BioNguyen K. Tran (he/him), PhD, MPH is a social epidemiologist with The PRIDE Study at Stanford University School of Medicine. In his current role, he applies his training in epidemiology, data science, and causal inference to conduct and support community-engaged research that addresses the health priorities of LGBTQIA+ communities, with the goal of advancing health equity for these populations. Substantively, this work focuses on the social and structural influences on healthcare access, mental health, and infectious diseases. Methodologically, he is interested in epidemiologic and statistical approaches for reducing bias in observational research.

BioAmber W. Trickey, PhD, MS, CPH, is a health services biostatistician working with the S-SPIRE Center. She supports multidisciplinary teams in research design, implementation, and analysis. Doran Triggs

Doran received a bachelor’s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Stephen F. Austin State University. Doran has focused her training on regulatory compliance and study data monitoring over her 6 years in Clinical Research. Doran brings experience coordinating and monitoring a wide variety of clinical research studies, including Gastritis and/or Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis, Celiac Disease, Women’s Heart Health, Peripheral Artery Disease, Heart Failure, Critical Limb Ischemia, and Digital Health and Patient registry solutions in Vascular disease patients. BioMindy Tsai is Sr. Research Scientist in the Department of Pathology. She received the D.M.Sc. (Doctor of Medical Sciences) in Oral Biology from Harvard School of Dental Medicine and completed her postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Tsai’s research focuses on studies that are designed to understand the regulation of mast cell and basophil development and to elucidate the roles of these cells in health and disease. Dr. Tsai’s research approaches include in vitro analyses of mast cells and basophils in human and mice, as well as using mouse models of disease to investigate the effector and immunoregulatory functions of these cells in vivo.

Born to Libyan immigrants in Louisville, KY, he developed his passion for teaching and global health as a medical student at the University of Chicago. His pediatric residency began with UCLA's "Community Health and Advocacy Training" and completed at UCSF in 2009 when he joined the UCSF faculty as a neonatal hospitalist at California Pacific Medical Center, directing the newborn nursery rotation for medical students. He spent the next part of his career as a global health clinician until returning to California in 2014 with his wife, a human rights attorney, to continue their social justice work domestically.

Stephanie Van de Ven

BioAs Deputy Director of the Canary Center at Stanford for Cancer Early Detection I broadly oversee its operations and research programs. The Canary Center is focused on developing in vitro and in vivo tools for early cancer detection and its research spans the areas of biomarker discovery, development of molecular imaging agents, development of new diagnostic and imaging devices, and mathematical modeling. In my position I facilitate the clinical translation of cancer diagnostic tools and I enable innovative interdisciplinary research. My research expertise includes leading phase I-II clinical trials to evaluate a newly developed optical breast imaging system in combination with a novel imaging agent. I gained valuable experience in clinical translation of medical devices and in testing new imaging agents for the first time in patients. My training as a Radiology resident was instrumental in my decision to focus on cancer early detection research, because it clearly confronted me with the problem that most cancer patients are being diagnosed too late. I expanded my knowledge on biomarker research by developing proteomics assays during my postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford, in conjunction with my continued work in optical and photoacoustic molecular imaging. In my current role, I work with the faculty of the Canary Center and the Molecular Imaging Program at Stanford, and am committed to advancing cancer research by applying my medical training, clinical knowledge, and research expertise to managing collaborative programs and contribute to the success of the Center and its faculty.
