Donghoon Kim
Postdoctoral Scholar, Radiology
BioDr. Donghoon Kim is a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford’s Center for Advanced Functional Neuroimaging (CAFN), working in close collaboration with the Stanford Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC). His work develops cutting-edge deep learning approaches for multimodal neuroimaging analysis, with an emphasis on the early detection and characterization of Alzheimer’s disease pathology.
Before joining Stanford, he earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, Davis. His Ph.D. thesis was titled "Deep Learning-Driven Technical Developments and Clinical Applications of Arterial Spin Labeling MRI." During his Ph.D. studies, he focused on the development of advanced deep learning techniques for ASL MRI and its clinical applications. During his master's degree in Biomedical Engineering at Virginia Tech–Wake Forest University, he studied the functional connectivity of the default mode network using resting-state BOLD fMRI among youth football players. -
Jiyeong Kim

BioDr. Jiyeong Kim is a post-doctoral scholar at the Stanford Center for Digital Health and the Department of Dermatology School of Medicine. As a multi-disciplined data scientist, Dr. Kim applies artificial intelligence (AI) to clinical informatics, harnessing patient-generated health information and data to enhance patient-centered care, which could be tailored to each patient group for improving patient engagement and better health outcomes. In her work, Dr. Kim leverages large language models, machine learning, and natural language processing to understand patients' and caregivers' genuine voices of care needs and needed support for individuals with chronic diseases, not limited to diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer.

Samsuk Kim, PhD.
Postdoctoral Scholar, Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine
BioDr. Samsuk Kim is a dual research and clinical T32 fellow at Stanford University. She earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy and completed external research training at the University of Michigan (Kratz Lab), where she studied psychosocial factors—such as mindfulness and pain acceptance—in chronic pain. She also completed an APA-accredited internship at the VA Boston Healthcare System. Clinically, Dr. Kim specializes in pain management, health promotion, adjustment-related challenges, and emotional regulation. She draws from a range of evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based interventions, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and interpersonal psychotherapy. Her current research focuses on understanding the bidirectional relationship between sleep and pain and developing personalized, digital interventions to improve outcomes in both domains.

Maximilian Koch

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy current research focuses on developing novel cellular immunotherapies for pediatric cancers. This includes identifying suitable MHC-restricted and native antigens that are expressed by malignant cells but ideally absent from healthy tissues. On the receptor side, both CARs and TCRs are being characterized for their specificity, affinity, and functionality. Ultimately, non-viral gene delivery methods will be explored and optimized to enable affordable, precise, and consistent cell products.

Gabriele Kockelkoren
Postdoctoral Scholar, Genetics
BioGabriele has a strong background in both physics and molecular biology and, accordingly, he strives in interdisciplinary environments. After completing a cum laude BSc. and MSc. in Nanobiology at the Technical University of Delft in The Netherlands, Gabriele pursued a PhD at the University of Copenhagen under the supervision of Prof. Dimitrios Stamou. In his PhD, Gabriele studied the nanoscale spatial organization of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) at the plasma membrane of living cells. Importantly, his work reveals heterogeneous spatial patterns of receptor density and activation, that are modulated in a drug-dependent manner. These findings identify GPCR spatial organization as an integral element of their activity and signaling. Currently, Gabriele is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the lab of Prof. Alice Ting developing programmable receptors for molecular sensing and controlling cellular behaviour.

Praneeta R. Konduri

BioDr. Konduri is a Postdoctoral scholar at the Department of Neurology and Neurological Sciences. With a background in biomedical engineering, she conducted her PhD research as part of a European consortium that developed computational stroke models, while also analyzing post-treatment brain tissue damage from multicenter clinical trials to assess prognosis. After completing her PhD, she continued as a Postdoctoral Researcher within the European consortium GEMINI, that aimed to implement digital twins for personalized stroke treatment. At the Stanford Stroke Center, she now focusses on developing AI tools for stroke diagnosis, treatment evaluation, prognostication, and personalized treatment development.

Qinqin Kong
Postdoctoral Scholar, General Internal Medicine
BioI am currently a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Departments of Medicine and Health Policy at Stanford University, after earning a PhD in atmospheric science from Purdue University. My research interests lie at the intersection of climate change—particularly extreme heat—and human society. I aim to advance our understanding of the physical mechanisms, cascading impacts, and the effectiveness of potential mitigation strategies for human heat stress. My PhD research focused on how land-atmosphere interactions modulate heat stress, as well as the economic and energy impacts of increasing heat stress in the context of climate change. My postdoctoral research at Stanford evaluates the impact of heat stress on public health, especially human fertility, in low- and middle-income countries. My methodological areas of expertise include climate modeling, human biophysics modeling, and econometric modeling, which I am further developing at Stanford.

Naoki Konno
Postdoctoral Scholar, Genetics
BioNaoki has a strong background in evolutionary biology and bioinformatics, and he thrives in interdisciplinary environments bridging computation and developmental biology. After earning his BSc. and MSc. in Systems Biology and Bioinformatics at the University of Tokyo, Naoki pursued a PhD in Evolutionary Biology under the supervision by Prof. Chikara Furusawa. He has developed computational frameworks to reconstruct and predict evolutionary processes, including large-scale phylogenetic inference for both evolution and cell lineage tracing (FRACTAL) and predictive models of microbial genome evolution (Evodictor). His work revealed generalizable rules of genome evolution and was recognized with multiple awards, including the JSPS Ikushi Prize.
Currently, Naoki is a Postdoctoral Scholar in the lab of Prof. Xiaojie Qiu at Stanford University School of Medicine. In his postdoctoral research, he investigates the evolutionary constraints of vertebrate development with a focus on the heart as a model system. By integrating single-cell and spatial transcriptomics with predictive modeling and CRISPR-based perturbations, he seeks to uncover how evolutionary principles shape developmental trajectories and contribute to congenital heart defects. Ultimately, Naoki aims to establish a broad research program in evolution-aware medicine, connecting evolutionary theory with biomedical challenges. -
Izabela Kowalczyk

BioDr. Izabela Kowalczyk is a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Sarah Bowling, Department of Developmental Biology. She is studying embryonic development, with a focus on heart valve formation and the influence of the maternal environment on this process. Dr. Kowalczyk completed her Ph.D. at the Max-Delbrück-Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin, under the supervision of Dr. Annette Hammes, where she investigated cell and tissue morphogenesis during early forebrain development. Her work identified novel components of Sonic Hedgehog (SHH) signaling and primary cilia biology, providing new insights into the variable penetrance of holoprosencephaly in mouse models.

Dayoon Kwon

BioI am an environmental epidemiologist leveraging multi-omics to study how environmental exposures influence human health across the life course. At Stanford, I develop epigenetic biomarkers and aging clocks to capture the impact of early-life exposures. During my PhD at UCLA, I investigated air pollution and Parkinson’s disease, focusing on gene–environment interactions and metabolomics. Previously at Columbia, I quantified biological aging using blood-based biomarkers.

Magdalena Ladrón de Guevara
Postdoctoral Scholar, Reproductive Biology
BioMagdalena Ladrón de Guevara is a postdoctoral scholar in reproductive biology whose research investigates the molecular and cellular mechanisms driving early human embryo implantation and trophoblast behavior. Her work integrates single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, live imaging, CRISPR-based functional genomics, and genome editing to explore embryo–maternal interactions within the implantation niche.
Originally trained as a veterinarian in Argentina, Magdalena earned a master’s in Animal Genetics and Reproductive Biotechnology in Spain and completed her Ph.D. in Reproductive and Developmental Biology at the Università degli Studi di Milano as part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie EUROVA network. Her experience spans both veterinary and human assisted reproduction, with deep expertise in embryo culture, oocyte maturation, gene regulation, genome editing, and the generation of genetically engineered mouse models. She brings a translational perspective to developmental biology and fertility research. -
Mauro Lago Docampo

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsI have always been fascinated by the process of genetic penetrance, how two people can carry the same mutation but only one of them may be affected.
My main project focuses on understanding the role of TBX4 in the development of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH). Mutations in this gene are related to very different diseases. In my research, I mix cellular models, gene editing, and high throughput assays to find the determinants of penetrance in the development of PAH under these conditions. -
Tracy Lam-Hine

BioTracy Lam-Hine (he/him), DrPH, MBA, is a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health and the Center for Population Health Sciences, a Research Education Component Fellow at the Stanford Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, and is affiliated via a Research Fellowship with the Temple University Center for Public Health Law Research. Dr. Lam-Hine is a social epidemiologist and population health scientist, studying how exposure to adverse childhood experiences, policy environments, and mid-life chronic disease burden shape the risk cognitive and functional aging in later life. Within this broad research area, he has a special focus on the health and social experiences of the US Multiracial population, surveillance data, methods to improve descriptive and population-generalizable research.

Nathalie Lambrecht

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Lambrecht's research aims to address malnutrition and environmental degradation from two angles: (1) evaluating climate-resilient agricultural strategies to improve global food security, nutrition, and health, and (2) assessing approaches to promote consumption of healthy and sustainable diets.
Climate-resilient agriculture for human health: Across various countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, Dr. Lambrecht investigates small-scale crop and livestock agroecology as a win-win strategy to benefit human nutrition, the environment, and households’ resilience to climate change. Her current work aims to understand whether integrated crop-livestock rearing can buffer the potential negative impacts of climate shocks on children's growth in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Malawi, and Uganda. During her PhD, Dr. Lambrecht examined linkages between household livestock ownership and anemia in children in southern Ghana, investigating the hypothesis that rearing livestock could alleviate anemia by providing a source of micronutrient-rich animal-source foods, yet could also exacerbate anemia by exposing children to zoonotic pathogens. Dr. Lambrecht has also worked on a large-scale homestead food production trial in Bangladesh, examining impacts on agricultural production, and children's and women's diets and health.
Healthy and sustainable diets: Shifting diets towards sustainable and healthy plant-forward dietary patterns is essential for mitigating climate change, reducing biodiversity loss and habitat destruction, and reducing non-communicable chronic diseases. Dr. Lambrecht is a lead researcher of the NURISHD (NURsing home and hospital food service – Implementation of Healthy and Sustainable Diets) study. This research project examines the environmental footprint and nutritional quality of food service in German healthcare institutions and evaluates the feasibility of shifting dietary patterns toward the Planetary Health Diet. -
Linda (Yu-Ling) Lan

BioLinda Lan, DVM, PhD is a postdoctoral fellow in the Snyder Lab. Her research focuses on understanding long-term illness post-acute infections by using a combination of different types of data (multi-omics) and wearable technologies. Currently, Linda is working on three projects.
The first project involves studying the shared mechanisms of long COVID, ME/CFS, and PTLDS using smartwatches and micro-sampling. The second project involves examining the role of autoantibodies in long COVID patients and COVID vaccine side effects. The third project involves exploring the changes in the molecular and physiological responses of astronauts during short space flights using multi-omics and wearable devices.
Linda previously conducted her PhD research at the University of Chicago, where she studied memory B cell responses to a chimeric-based universal influenza virus vaccine candidate. In her leisure time, she enjoys running, hiking, and listening to audiobooks. -

Maria Lee
Postdoctoral Scholar, Psychiatry
BioI am a clinical psychologist from Sweden, currently doing my postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Psychiatry. With over 10 years of clinical experience in Sweden, I specialize in working with patients with severe mental illness, primarily psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia. The majority of my clinical work has been done in outpatient clinics for individuals with recent onset of psychosis and I have extensive experience doing cognitive and diagnostic assessments, as well as delivering cognitive behavioral therapy in this population.
My current research focuses specifically on the menopause transition and severe mental illness. The aim of my project is to assess how this period affects risk of developing severe mental illness, as well as how menopause affects the clinical course for those already diagnosed with severe mental illness.
