Dina Hany

BioI am currently a postdoctoral researcher in the laboratory of Prof. Sylvia Plevritis, Department of Biomedical Data Sciences. My current work involves establishing drug testing platforms to evaluate tumor drug responses with respect to the tumor microenvironment and the its spatial organization. I hold a Ph.D. in Life Sciences (Pharmaceutical Sciences) from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, where I conducted research in Prof. Didier Picard's laboratory from 2017 to 2022. Prior to that, I earned a Master’s degree in Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics from Alexandria University, Egypt, and a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy with honors from Pharos University. My professional experience includes postdoctoral research in molecular pharmacology at UNIGE and a lecturer position in Pharmacotherapeutics and Cancer Biology at Pharos University. I have extensive teaching experience, supervising undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and have successfully guided master's thesis projects. My research has focused on endocrine resistance in breast cancer, utilizing CRISPR/Cas9 screens and exploring drug combinations, resulting in several relevant publications. I have presented my work at numerous conferences and received several awards, including the Ernst et Lucie Schmidheiny Fondation grant and the Ph.D. Booster prize from the faculty of medicine, Geneva, Switzerland. I am an active member of the Life Sciences Switzerland (LS2) and the European Association of Cancer Research (EACR).

I work at the Stanford Center for Biomedical Informatics Research, where I help develop Protégé and WebProtégé, which are tools used worldwide for creating and managing ontologies. Recently, I contributed to the Human BioMolecular Atlas Program (HuBMAP) project, where I helped build the Human Reference Atlas (HRA) knowledge graph and designed metadata schemas to support a range of assay datasets produced by the consortium.
My core technical strengths are in Java, JavaScript, and Python. I enjoy working at the intersection of software engineering and data to build tools that empower researchers and improve data interoperability. -
Kate Hardy

BioKate Hardy is a California Licensed Psychologist who has specialized in working with individuals with psychosis for over 20 years in both research and clinical settings. Dr. Hardy received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom. She has worked in specialist early psychosis services in both the UK and the US, including UCSF’s Prodrome Assessment Research and Treatment (PART) program, where she completed her post-doctoral fellowship, and as Clinical Director for the Prevention and Recovery from Early Psychosis (PREP) program. Dr. Hardy is the co-director for the INSPIRE clinic at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, Stanford University and has significant experience in providing CBTp to individuals with early psychosis, and those at risk of developing psychosis, in both individual and group settings and integration of this clinical intervention to broader systems and staff teams. Dr. Hardy is also involved in the implementation of national strategies to increase dissemination of early psychosis models with the aim of bringing these cutting edge treatments to a broader population and is the co-editor of the book Intervening Early: A team approach.
Dr. Hardy is also the director of INSPIRE training and within this role has led multiple trainings and workshops in CBTp to a wide variety of audiences including community clinicians, psychiatrists, and families, and provides ongoing supervision and consultation in this approach. INSPIRE training offers training in evidence based interventions for psychosis to providers across diverse settings. In 2024 Dr. Hardy became president elect for IEPA: Intervening Early in Mental Health. -

These include abdominal, breast and musculoskeletal imaging, which require development of faster, quantitative, and more efficient MRI methods that provide improved diagnostic contrast compared with current methods. My work includes novel excitation schemes, efficient imaging methods and reconstruction tools and augmented reality in medicine.

Stephanie Harman

BioDr. Stephanie Harman is a palliative care physician and Clinical Professor of Medicine. She graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and went on to complete a residency in Internal Medicine at Stanford and a Palliative Care fellowship at the Palo Alto VA/Stanford program. She then joined the faculty at Stanford. She co-founded the Palliative Care Program at Stanford Health Care in 2007 and served as Clinical Chief of the Section of Palliative Care in the Division of Primary Care and Population Health from 2016 - 2022. She was the inaugural Associate Chair for Women in Medicine for the Department of Medicine and is now the Associate Chair for Faculty Engagement and Leadership Development. She is Director of the Stanford Leadership Development Program, a joint program between Stanford Health Care and the School of Medicine for emerging leaders. A 2017 Cambia Health Foundation Sojourns Scholar Leader Awardee, she has a passion for leadership development and faculty engagement; she has built multiple programs to support the careers of women leaders in academic medicine, both locally and nationally. Her other professional interests include clinical ethics and serious illness communication.

Anthony Harris

BioAnthony Harris is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Genetics at Stanford School of Medicine, where he investigates the organization and function of the genome during cellular development. His research focuses on uncovering fundamental principles of chromosome structure, cellular differentiation, and genome stability. By combining experimental molecular biology, computational modeling, and third generation sequencing technologies, Dr. Harris aims to elucidate the mechanisms that shape chromatin architecture and direct genome maintenance. His interdisciplinary approach integrates cutting-edge quantitative analysis with traditional molecular techniques to advance understanding of the relationship between cellular organization and disease.
Dr. Harris has developed computational tools for genomic data analysis and applies data-driven strategies to study chromatin structure and gene regulation. His work has been published in leading journals, including EMBO Journal, Genetics, and Developmental Cell, with projects spanning meiosis regulation, transcriptional control, and genome integrity. BioDr. Sean Edmund Harris is a board-eligible vascular surgeon with Stanford Health Care Vascular and Endovascular Care. He is also an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Vascular Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Dr. Harris specializes in creating and maintaining dialysis access, working closely with nephrologists to provide complex kidney disease care. His other interests include venous disease management and endovascular management of aortic and peripheral vascular diseases. As a physician-researcher, Dr. Harris has traveled around the world and brings extensive and diverse vascular education back to his patients. He also understands the needs of the local community as a San Francisco Bay Area native.
Dr. Harris has published his findings in several peer-reviewed journals, including Annals of Vascular Surgery, the Journal of the American College of Surgeons, the Journal of Vascular Surgery, and the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. BioMary Elizabeth Hartnett, MD, is the Michael F. Marmor, M.D. Professor in Retinal Science and Diseases and is a Professor of Ophthalmology at Stanford University. Dr. Hartnett is the director of Pediatric Retina at Stanford University and principal investigator of a retinal angiogenesis laboratory, in which she studies causes and treatments for diseases including retinopathy of prematurity and age-related macular degeneration. She created the first-ever academic textbook on the subject, Pediatric Retina, in its third edition, which has proven to be an invaluable resource for residents and ophthalmologists internationally.
Dr. Hartnett’s NIH-funded laboratory of vascular biology and angiogenesis has studied mechanisms causing pathology in age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). Her work in AMD has been to understand the mechanisms involved in activation and invasion of choroidal endothelial cells anterior to the RPE in order to maintain vasculature that is physiologic and not damaging beneath the RPE. Her lab has elucidated environmental stressors that lead to scarring in the macula for which no vision improvement is currently possible. The goal is to find methods to prevent the scarring.
Her lab’s work in ROP provided the proof of concept to regulate an angiogenic signaling pathway by inhibiting VEGF to facilitate intraretinal neovascularization as well as to inhibit abnormal extraretinal neovascularization and reduce retinal destruction used in previous treatments. Her work has been translated through clinical trials to lead to new treatments for severe ROP and has represented a paradigm shift in the understanding and treatment of severe ROP.
Dr. Hartnett has received numerous awards, including the Weisenfeld Award, the highest award for clinician-scientists given by the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), in 2018, and is an ARVO Gold Fellow. She received the 2019 Paul Kayser/Retina Research Foundation Global Award, the Macula Society’s 2016 Paul Henkind Award and its 2019 Arnall Patz Medal, the Paul Kayser/RRF Global Award from the PanAmerica Society, and the 2021 Suzanne Veronneau-Troutman Award, the most prestigious award from Women in Ophthalmology. In 2022, she was one of six at the University of Utah to receive a distinguished research award, for Pediatrics and Ophthalmology. In recognition of her lifetime contributions, she was inducted into the Retina Hall of Fame and was elected to the Association of American Physicians in 2025.
Dr. Hartnett's prolific publication record includes 295 articles in peer-reviewed journals and over 40 book chapters. She has delivered numerous national and international invited lectures. Her long list of professional committee work includes serving as chair of the Publications Committee of ARVO, as a mentor for the ARVO Leadership Development Program, and in leadership positions internationally as the Treasurer for The Macula Society and the Chair of the Jack McGovern Coats Disease Foundation as well as the Credentialing Committee for The Retina Society. She reviews manuscripts for more than 20 eye and science journals and serves on the editorial boards of PlosOne, Molecular Vision, and the American Journal of Ophthalmology. Dr. Hartnett is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Silver and Gold Fellow of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (FARVO). -

BioStella Hartono, MD PhD is a board-certified allergy/immunology physician and clinical researcher. She specializes in diagnosing and treating immunology and allergic conditions, with a focus on immunodeficiency, immune dysregulation, hyper eosinophilia, and pet allergies.
Dr. Hartono’s clinical research focuses on the role of age-associated B cells in vaccine response and the aging immune system. She is also interested in improving diagnosis and treatment options for patients with CVID (common variable immunodeficiency) and SAD (specific antibody deficiency). BioMy research includes developing custom mathematical models and algorithms to comprehensively simulate the biophysics underlying brain dynamics. These models are then used to simulate the detailed blood flow, volume, and oxygenation changes that accompany neural activity with a focus on detailed, realistic microvascular geometry to predict the impact of hemodynamic states and vascular structure on fMRI signals (for BOLD and non-BOLD sequences). This interdisciplinary work includes advances in mathematics, biophysics, neuroscience, and computer science to enable simulations of vascular structures orders of magnitude larger than previously possible in only a few hours.
These advancements have led to the quantification of many fMRI biases previously overlooked or undervalued. This includes the geometric blurring by the capillary bed between the site of neurovascular coupling and the venous response, ultimately measured by BOLD. Moreover, the microvascular blood volume at resting-state gave a non-neuronal explanation for the mid-cortex “bump” observed in layer-fMRI BOLD signals. This tool also proposed mechanistic explanations underlying the BOLD frequency nonlinearity observed during oscillatory stimulus. In non-BOLD acquisitions, these tools discovered artifacts in IntraVoxel Incoherent Motion (IVIM) and VAscular Space Occupancy (VASO) signals caused by vascular structural and flow asymmetries and velocity heterogeneity which help explain discrepancies in experimental findings with these methods.

BioHoda S. Hashemi is a postdoctoral scholar at the Ultrasound Imaging & Instrumentation Lab at Stanford University. She received her PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 2023. She was also an ultrasound research intern in research and innovation team at DarkVision Technologies Inc. from 2021 to 2023. She holds a M.A.Sc. from Concordia University and a B.Sc. from Sharif University of Technology. Her research interests are ultrasound molecular imaging, elastography and AI in medical image processing.
