Kellen Glinder
Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor, Pediatrics - General Pediatrics
BioDr. Kellen Glinder is a distinguished pediatrician with over two decades of experience in Silicon Valley. He practiced for 17 years at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Pediatric department in Palo Alto where he helped build and implement many of the pediatric electronic medical record tools currently in use throughout Sutter Health. He founded and chaired the PAMF Asthma Committee and the Sutter Childhood Asthma Committee as well as developed a program for pediatric pulmonary function testing and asthma education, including training asthma educators statewide for underfunded clinics in California.
In his role as Pediatric Department Chair at PAMF Palo Alto, he worked closely with Stanford Children's Hospital to coordinate care for our children in our community and facilitate collaboration between PAMF, Sutter, and Stanford Children's Hospital, including representing the community pediatricians on the Medical Executive Committee of Stanford Children's Hospital. His advocacy for children extends to his expertise on the Silicon Valley Advisory Council of Commonsense Media and some of his public speaking roles. He is also the author of "Pause, Cope, and Connect," a book to teaching mindfulness practices to grade school children and has brought his own mindfulness practice to the classroom, teaching courses in the art of medical communication at several institutions, including Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.
Dr. Glinder currently sees patients at Maison Medical Group, a small private clinic in Portola Valley, CA. -
Anna L Gloyn

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsAnna's current research projects are focused on the translation of genetic association signals for type 2 diabetes and glycaemic traits into cellular and molecular mechanisms for beta-cell dysfunction and diabetes. Her group uses a variety of complementary approaches, including human genetics, functional genomics, physiology and islet-biology to dissect out the molecular mechanisms driving disease pathogenesis.

Natalia Gomez-Ospina

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Gomez-Ospina is a physician scientist and medical geneticist with a strong interest in the diagnosis and management of genetic diseases.
1) Lysosomal storage diseases:
Her research program is on developing better therapies for a large class of neurodegenerative diseases in children known as lysosomal storage disorders. Her current focus is on developing genome editing of hematopoietic stem cells as a therapeutic approach for these diseases beginning with Mucopolysaccharidosis type 1 and Gaucher disease. She established a genetic approach where therapeutic proteins can be targeted to a single well-characterized place in the genome known as a safe harbor. This approach constitutes a flexible, “one size fits all” approach that is independent of specific genes and mutations. This strategy, in which the hematopoietic system is commandeered to express and deliver therapeutic proteins to the brain can potentially change the current approaches to treating childhood neurodegenerative diseases and pave the way for alternative therapies for adult neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease
2) Point of care ammonia testing
She also works in collaboration with other researchers at Stanford to develop point-of-care testing for serum ammonia levels. Such device will greatly improve the quality of life of children and families with metabolic disorders with hyperammonemia.
3) Gene discovery
Dr Gomez-Ospina lead a multi-institutional collaboration resulting in the discovery of a novel genetic cause of neonatal and infantile cholestatic liver disease. She collaborated in the description of two novel neurologic syndromes caused by mutations in DYRK1 and CHD4.

William Rowland Goodyer, MD/PhD

BioDr. Goodyer is a physician scientist who specializes in Pediatric Cardiology and Electrophysiology. Will graduated from McGill University (Montreal, Canada) with a BSc in Biology prior to completing his graduate studies at Stanford University in the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP). He subsequently completed residency training in Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital before returning to Stanford to complete a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology and advanced fellowship in Pediatric Electrophysiology. He additionally performed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Sean Wu laboratory at the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute where he developed the first comprehensive single-cell gene atlas of the entire murine cardiac conduction system (CCS) as well as pioneered the generation of optical imaging agents for the real-time visualization of the CCS to help prevent accidental surgical damage during heart surgeries. Will's lab (www.goodyerlab.com) focuses on basic science advances aimed at the improved diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.

BioKarolina Grekov, MD, MA, serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Pediatric Critical Care, Pediatric Palliative Care, and Bioethics. Her academic interests include the nuanced role of language, culture, and spirituality in medical communication and shared decision-making. She completed her pediatric residency at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA), where she also served as chief resident. She then went on to obtain advanced fellowship training in pediatric critical care at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford where she served as chief fellow, and pediatric palliative care at Boston Children's Hospital in the Harvard Interprofessional Palliative Care Fellowship program.

Anna H Grummon

BioDr. Grummon is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and (by courtesy) Health Policy and the Director of the Stanford Food Policy Lab. Dr. Grummon is a behavioral scientist whose work seeks to identify and evaluate policies that encourage healthy eating and help children and their families live long, healthy lives. In her work, Dr. Grummon uses randomized trials, natural experiments, and simulation modeling to examine how food policies like warning labels, beverage taxes, and food assistance programs affect what we eat and how healthy we are. She also studies strategies for encouraging people to choose foods that are more environmentally sustainable. Dr. Grummon's program of research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies, and others. Her work has been published in leading medical and public health journals including JAMA, New England Journal of Medicine, Science, and the American Journal of Public Health and received coverage in news outlets such as the New York Times, the Washington Post, NBC, NPR, and Forbes.
Dr. Grummon holds a PhD and MSPH in Health Behavior from the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health and a BA with Honors in Human Biology from Stanford. She completed her postdoctoral training at Harvard. -

BioMeghan Halley, PhD, MPH is Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Research) in the Center for Biomedical Ethics at Stanford University School of Medicine. With training in medical anthropology, public health and health services research, her scholarship draws on multidisciplinary theoretical and methodological approaches to examine ethical, legal, social and policy questions arising in clinical and translational research. Her areas of expertise include the ethics of new genomic technologies, normative frameworks for integrating research and clinical care, challenges and opportunities in patient and community engagement, and the epistemic and ethical implications of valuing new health interventions. Her work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute, and the National Science Foundation and published in high-impact journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature Genetics, and the American Journal of Bioethics.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsA bad latch means maternal excruciating pain, ineffective milk transfer with subsequent weight loss, hypoglycemia, higher risk of hyperbilirubinemia and dehydration fever.All of the above led to early cessation of breastfeeding; 46% of mothers who initiate exclusive breastfeeding stop within the first 12 weeks because of difficult latch. I developed a latch tutorial focusing on step-by step-in striations for achieving an effective, non-painful latch.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Hart-Cooper's research focuses on youth provider barriers and education surrounding pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV (PrEP). He founded the Virtual PrEP Program for Adolescents and Young Adults at Stanford to improve access to PrEP care for youth within California. In his current role, he advises health departments and health systems in creating youth-focused telehealth tools to improve youth access to PrEP.

Current research studies include novel treatment options for pediatric metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), health equity in pediatric patients with intestinal failure, and medication management after metabolic and bariatric surgery in pediatric patients with severe obesity. -

BioKorey Hood, PhD is personally and professionally committed to improving the lives of people with diabetes. As Professor and Staff Psychologist at Stanford University School of Medicine, Dr. Hood runs a behavioral science laboratory aimed at optimizing health and quality of life outcomes. A recipient of federal and foundation grants and author of over 200 scientific articles, Dr. Hood works to put behavioral science at the forefront of patient-centered diabetes care. Dr. Hood has type 1 diabetes himself and works across advocacy and service settings to promote awareness of diabetes treatments, the psychological impact, and emerging technologies. Dr. Hood is a compassionate behavioral scientist with a keen understanding of the intersection between diabetes and behavioral health.
